Car Trouble in Guanacaste? We Can Help Get Your Vehicle to Our Shop
What to do when your car breaks down in Guanacaste, Costa Rica: how Zona Automotriz helps you get a vehicle to our Santa Cruz shop, from first WhatsApp message to repair estimate.

A car that barely runs, makes a terrible noise or overheats is not going to drive itself from Tamarindo, Flamingo or Nosara to a workshop. If you are stuck with a vehicle that cannot easily reach Santa Cruz, this is how we handle it — realistically, without promising things nobody can promise.
Step 1: Contact us through WhatsApp
Send us a message with what is happening and, if you can, a short video or a couple of photos. A 15-second video of a noise, a warning light on the dashboard or a visible leak often tells us more than a paragraph of description.
Step 2: We ask about the vehicle and the symptoms
- Make, model, year and mileage
- What exactly happens, when it happens and whether it is getting worse
- Any warning lights and when they appeared
- Whether the vehicle is currently safe to drive at all
These questions are not small talk. They determine whether this is something that can wait for an appointment, something urgent, or something where the car should not be driven another kilometer.
Step 3: An initial inspection, when it makes sense
When appropriate, an initial inspection can be arranged at the customer's home — for example, to assess a no-start condition, confirm a leak or check whether the vehicle is safe to move. Availability depends on your location and the day's schedule, so this is arranged case by case. We will always tell you clearly whether a home visit is possible, and what it involves.
Step 4: Getting the vehicle to the shop, if necessary
If the vehicle needs to come to the Santa Cruz workshop, we coordinate the practical side with you: who brings it, when, and how. Depending on the situation that may be a driveable trip, a tow, or transport we help arrange. We are upfront about options and costs before anything is committed.
Step 5: Diagnosis and estimate
Once the vehicle is at the shop, it gets a real diagnosis — not a guess. That can include a scan for fault codes, a physical inspection of the affected system, and tests to confirm the root cause. Then you receive a repair estimate with an explanation in plain language, and you approve the work before major repairs begin.
The one thing we ask you not to do: keep driving a vehicle with an overheating engine, grinding brakes or a serious fluid leak hoping it will hold out. Those failures escalate from affordable to expensive very quickly.
What we do not promise
- We do not offer unlimited roadside assistance across Guanacaste.
- We do not guarantee pickup everywhere in the province — availability depends on your location, the time and the condition of the vehicle.
- We do not start major repairs without your approval.
What you do get is a shop that answers, diagnoses properly and tells you the truth about what your vehicle needs.
Frequently asked questions
My car will not start at my house. Can you come to me?
When appropriate, we can arrange an initial inspection at your location — availability depends on where you are and the shop's schedule. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Do you provide towing?
We help coordinate getting your vehicle to the Santa Cruz shop, including arranging transport when the car cannot be driven safely. Options and costs are agreed with you before anything happens.
How fast can you look at my car?
It depends on the day and the severity. Message us first — an emergency that leaves you without a vehicle is prioritized differently from a scheduled maintenance visit.
I live in Nosara / Tamarindo / Coco. Is that a problem?
No. Many of our customers live along the coast. Most communication happens over WhatsApp, and the vehicle comes to Santa Cruz when it needs hands-on work.
